Hohenaschau Castle is a wonderful vacation home! Our apartment is really great and suitable for at least 4 people. The common rooms are in very good condition. We feel very comfortable here and would love to come back here again!

We stayed in the castle. The castle is incredibly large and interesting. The rooms are spacious, but the distances are very long due to the size of the castle. Each room has its own kitchen and bathroom. However, everything can be quite far apart. The way from the kitchen to the common rooms can sometimes be 100m. It's a big castle. Private castle and partially used, thus accessible with strong hourly restrictions (not every day), with only one-hour tour in German, and perhaps also in English: "perhaps" because we were told that our would in English, and instead it was in German. Fortunately we were given a sheet with a summary of the guide, but not at all taken care of in the translation, which makes reading difficult and not always understandable. The ticket costs € 5 and is valid for a visit to the castle or for a small permanent exhibition there. Too bad, however, that the show is only in German, and with very bad maintenance (there are mechanical models, but some work only partially, the others just don't work). The castle itself is very interesting, because of the original structure remains very little because of subsequent restructuring, differ only in the dining room decorated with frescoes and stuccoed rooms on the upper floor. You can not park at the entrance of the castle, but at the foot of the hill which is built there is plenty of free parking, and within 15-20 minutes of fairly steep climb you will arrive at the castle gates. Interesting tour. Lots of fabric covered in white cloth. You must get there early for your booked tour. Be sure to leave lots and lots of time to get there. Sparse bus service. Big queues. Check the bus times back. DON'T miss the last bus down after visit as we did. It a long walk down to the town.

From the rides with the Kampenwandbahn there is a fantastic view of Hohenaschau Castle. Unfortunately, guided tours are not offered for spontaneous tourists. So we could only look at the castle from the outside on a Friday afternoon. This Hohenaschau Castle is sure to lose visitors on a regular basis. Because holidays are based on a lot of spontaneity and not on meticulous time planning. Too bad.
